Bardia Jungle Safari

Bardia Jungle SafariIt is the largest and most undisturbed wild area of the Terai region in Nepal Himalayas. It is situated in the low land of Western Terai Similar to Chitwan National Park, but with a drier climate and a more remote location, Bardia covers 968-sq-kms of riverine grassland and sal forests.

Terai or lowland hills and valleys of southern Nepal, nowhere over 1,000 feet in elevation, extend all along the Indian border. The Terai once supported a healthy wildlife population in a habitat of 25-foot high elephant grass and dense hardwood forests, but had very few people, due to virulent malarial mosquitoes.

Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve

Koshi Tappu Wildlife ReserveKoshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve was established in 1976. Its covers 1756 sq. km. in this area. This reserve located in the flood plains of the Sapta-Koshi in the mid-east Nepal, and is a favorite spot for bird enthusiasts. This wildlife reserve's vegetation includes patches of Sisoo forest and spreads of tall grass. The last surviving herd of wild buffaloes in Nepal is found here.
